Hi ,
During the recent AGM, this matter was discussed briefly. Where do you think the ring leopard should be placed? Your comments are welcomed.

Hi all
This is an important poll .... we need your opinion. We had put Ring leopards into Pattern, spotted red, and then unclassified pattern, spotted classes over the past 3 to 4 years. It's a merry-go-round situation. We get flakes and sticks every year sad.gif So voice your opinion please now, before we finalize our classes for the Aquarama 2007!

Hi all,

I am not familiar with the classification of discus. In my opinion, based on the title of the class, I vote for Class 11.

Justification:
1. Technically pattern on Ring Leopard is not spotted any more, "spot" should not have hole at the centre, it is "ring".

2. On the other hand, normally Ring Leopard does not carry "ring" throughout the whole body, judging criteria for pattern should be pattern consistently appeared throughout the whole body.

I could be wrong tongue.gif, hope more brothers and sisters can participate in this vote as well as voice out their opinion for reference...

Hi,

My initial view: Definitely not Class5 Spotted Red, either Class6 or Class11.

My thinking: Ring Leopard has already developed to quite a stable strain. The standard of Ring Leopard should have reached the stage of full body pattern competing with Mosaic pattern, Checker Board pattern, box pattern etc.

My vote: Class6 Pattern.

Regards

I vote for class 6 - Pattern

Spotted is fully shaded round dots. Whereas ring is form by a thick round marking, empty in the centre, like thick line pattern

IMO, i would let the pattern on the fish decides which cat it should be in. If i have a Ring Leopard with only 5 rings and the rest are just short lines pattern then i will put it in class 11.

Hi all,

In my opinion, Leopard Ring should be spoted red or open class. If not unfair for other pattern fishs.

Which kinds of discus are the ones that had a true color instead being experimented on by mixing colors?

in my opinion, Ring Leopards should be classified under Patterns Category if there is one such category in the competition. If not, it should be classified under the Open Unclassified Category and not the Red Spotted Category.

I think it should go into either the pattern or unclassified pattern. It would not stand a chance in the spotted class. Since we do not encourage a discus to be placed in two classes, I think unclassified pattern is more suitable for it. Further unclassified pattern tends to have lesser entries. cheers.gif

But the poll results thus far for this forgotten thread is pointing to class 6 pattern cheers.gif
